Sarasota tips for better landscapes, first of all make sure you have done some home work , such as finding out what your clamate zone is.  If you ae not going to hire a local landscape designer there will be some work you will have to do, before the shovels go in the ground.  After finding your climate zone, which Saraosta is Tropical, make sure to take a soil sample and take one from each side of the yard, most homesites are built up with dirt dug from local retention ponds, this soil could differ greatly in soil components.  After getting soil tested by yur local extension service, this soil test is free by the way, take the time to do asite evaluation, lokking for drainage problems, I cant think of many plants or turf that will do well in standing water, maybe cypress trees and other plants that grow in bogs, after site evaluation, lets put some notes on paper, this is important to take notes and draw your site on paper, Graph paper will make it a lot easier.  Draw your house and property lines,  then draw what you think your plant beds will be, this may change many times as  you  start this project many more ideas of landscaping in Sarasota   will come to you , this is good, its not un usual for a landscape design to take a month, working on it a few hours a day. First plants I suggest are shade trees, plant them in an area they will be able to flourish, not under power lines or next to the house, Royal ponciana, jacaranda trees and many others, will make fine shade trees in Sarasota  .  makke sure to install plants that will need the same care, drought tolerant plants are the best choice, with water restrictions getting tougher every year, this will be the most important decision, install an micro irrigation system which is much easier than most people think, most local home improvement stores carry all the parts needed.  When picking plants dont make the mistake of using all color, tyhis will make your landscape way to busy, instll color in front and deep greens such as sheffalerra, and many plants in the philodendron family have deep rich green color.  after yu have planned all beds and purchased all plants, lay each bed out before planting, take alook at professional landscapes in the area to see if you  plant spacing is correct, many office buildings are professionaly done and can easily be viewed, they will have plants that do well in the area, however make sure to ask you local nursery man for an appointment, view  his entire nursery, al long as you have an appointment he should be fine with helping you, and then try to get him to discount your plant material if you buy with him.  after all is in check irrigation for proper coverage, make sure to install mulch, a two inch cover of mulch will help tremendously with keeping plants from drying out. Sarasota Venice landscape care can be very challening when the conditions of the soil, are not right and the layout of the landscaping that will be installed is too crowded or plants being installed in the wrong places, such as plants that love sun installed in shade or vise versa.  Sarasota Venice landscape design is very important to do the homework on each plant you plant to install, I know in so many yards the very best landscapes in Sarasota have used shade trees such as jacaranda, Royal Ponciana, Live oak, there are many shade trees in Sarasota that will provide filtered shade and make your lawn and landscape much more enjoyable, and most of all much easier to manage.  Make sure to install an irrigation system that will give the plants the water they need for years to come, not install a system that the plants will outgrow in a few months, also group your plants in groups that will take the same water requirements, drought tolerant in one group water and shade loving plants in another.  With a proper landscape and irrigaiton design you will have a landscape that will be enjoyable for years to come.

Sarasota landscaping drainage is more important than most homeowners relize.  Between all properties there is a swale that carries each properties excessive water away from the living area and into a retention pond or or adrain that leads to a water holding area.  After time swales become blocked by tree roots or grass thickening or something as simple as planting shrubs in the wrong place.  Drainage is very important to especaily your turf becuase most all turf that sits in water will die, or decline severely.  there are many ways to enhance drainage the easiest way is to install 4 inch drainage pipe with a catch bucket and a dishcharge bucket at the end where you need the water to end up.  Sarasota drainage contractors can easily be found just make sure they have good references and you can check them.  Nothing worse thatn having to do a drainage system over, water backing up where it should not can be very messy.  Installing sock pipe or solid pipe is always easier than re grading.

Sarasota planting fall vegatables is a great way to get ou side and enjoy what all the snow birda come down here for in the Winter, our great weather.  Planting fall vegatables such as tomatoes, cabbage, squash, and many other vegatables work well as long as you plant them in a sunny spot, water and fertilize accordingly.  this is something the kids will enjoy and learn alot from, always plant your vegatables in rows runing East to West this way the sun will equaly hit them as the day passes.  only water as needed, so many people over water vegatables, I use a liquid fertilizer every ten days, this way I dont over fertilize and it wont burn the plants.  Sarasota Vegatables are awonderful way to enhance your landscape and have fun at the same time.
