Here in Venice Florida, irrigation wells are running short on water, many irrigation pumps in Venice sitting fifty feet in the ground are running short on water. In the last week I have dropped three and have three more scheduled. I know if we dont get rain soon this will continue. Plant material in Venice seems to be holding on, turf such as St. Augustine are turning to toast, thats ironic because the turf uses the most water, this is a mission of mine, to reduce the amount of turf we have here in Venice and Sarasota. If removing turf is not in your budget atleast plant a Sarasota Shade Tree shade can take the place of thaousands of gallons of irrigation water. We must take this drought more seriously, running out of water when we dont have to is down right stupid. For more information contact www.watermatters.org
