The more I learn about the water needs of turf and landscape the more it disgust me when I see so much water wasted. Even after seeing Atlanta almost run out of daily water and many small towns could only turn the water on for a few hours a day, people still don’t get it. We must conserve even in times of plentiful rain fall. Turf should be limited to small areas, make sure landscape is drought tolerant. If you hire your Sarasota landscape care out, ask your provider questions about what their understanding and knowledge is of drought tolerant landscape practices. Make sure they are certified in Best Management Practices, a certification given by the State Of Florida D.E.P.

As Sarasota landscapers who care, we are. Ask if they offer a environment friendly fertilization program, keep fertilizer to minimum. Keep it at least 25ft. away from water ways, and always clean overage from walk ways and other hard surfaces. If at all possible, use a water soluble fertilizer that is distributed through your irrigation system. This is the most environmentally friendly way to fertilize. Not only will your plants do better you will do your part in helping our environment.
